Vukovar - The City of pride- The Home City of Golden Apple
Not all ceremonies have thousands of guests gathered in a gala atmosphere, but all ceremonies surely have their stars and memorable moments. One of the stars and memorable moments was ceremonial moving the Golden Apple Statue from City Mayor office to the new home- Vucedol Culture Museum to be visible to all visitors of Vukovar.Fijet Delegation composed by Tina Cubrilo, Abi Shalabi, Marijana Rebic, Mira Shalabi, Ludmila Novacka and Alexander Stemp were hosted in Vukovar by Ivan Penava, City Mayor and Zeljko Sabo, The President of City Conucil for 3 days.
Croatia is very proud of Vukovar – we may be a small country but we are proud of our identity and the fact that we have a unique and ancient culture and traditions. In 1991 , it was the fiercest and most protracted battle seen in Europe since 1945, and Vukovar was the first major European town to be entirely destroyed since the Second World War. The visit was a series of events between City Mayor and his great Team in ceremonies, visit, and education which will forge strong ties between the City of Vukovar and Fijet Croatia.
Vukovar City Day Ceremonial Council was held on Monday, May 3. City Mayor, Deputy Mayor with all city council members were present, as well as all friend cities, Delegates of Prime Minister, Croatian Parlament, Veterans associations, Institituions, Ministries, honored members, City Mayors from the previous mandate times.Honor guest was the President of Republic Croatia.The Mayor of Vukovar welcomed the Fijet delegation to the city in his welcome speach. It was the ceremony wonderful and full of meaning.
On 2nd of May was the reception in the City Mayor Office with Mr. Filip Sušac, Deputy Mayor, Zeljko Sabo, the President of City Council, Marina Sekulic, Director of Vukovar Tourism Office,Ruza Maric, Director of Vukovar Museums, Mirela Hutinec, Director of Vucedol Museum Culture and Kristina Bilic Head of City Department of Economy. It was an occassion to present Fijet and Vukovar with more potentials cooperation.
The visit was a series of events organized by City Mayor Team in ceremonies, visit, and education which will forge strong ties between the City of Vukovar and Fijet Croatia, special in City Museumm with Ruza Maric, Director and legend Cultural developer. We were participating in laying wreaths for veterans and killed people at the Memorial cemetery .
On 3rd of May was ceremonial moving the statue from the Mayor office to the new home- Vucedol Culture Museum. A ride of a "golden apple statue" in a carriage from the mayor's office to the museum with Tina Cubrilo, Zeljko Sabo and Alexander Stemp followed by people's eyes and guarded by the police service.
Once again, City Mayor and City Council President said that they are pleased to be able to host members of the Fijet Delegation. The City Mayor pointed that Vukovar is deeply proud of Fijet award given to them 11 years ago. He pointed out that the prize recognises the importance of Vucedol culture and heritage in Vukovar. It was also a good opportunity to exchange perspectives and ideas on areas of common interest such as media contribution in local tourism and culture promotion and we are pleased to be able to show you Vukovar as part of the visit.
Mirela Hutinec, Museum Director received the statue from City Mayor. It was truly enchanting to see all these wonderful Vukovar people brought together by their love of the Golden Apple Award.
