
FIJET: Meeting in Tunisia
A meeting of the Executive Committee of FIJET was held in Tunisia, where the organizational and financial situation of the federation was analyzed. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tijani Haddad, president of FIJET. Participants included Plamen Starev (Bulgaria), Salah Attia (Egypt), Najib Senhadji (Morocco), Stefan Baciu (Romania), Lyudmila Novacka (Slovakia), and Delal Atamdede (Turkey).The members of the Executive Committee met with the Minister of Tourism of Tunisia, Mr. Sofiane Tekaya, during which the participants exchanged views on the challenges facing international tourism and the role of FIJET.
In keeping with the tradition of FIJET meetings, the program included familiarization tours. Among the visited sites was Dougga – the first archaeological site in Tunisia included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Great Mosque, and Barrouta in one of the oldest cities in North Africa – Kairouan.
Plamen Starev, chairman of the Committee awarding the prestigious international FIJET award – the Golden Apple, presented the committee's nominations for 2025: the city of Ljubiški in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Tarsus, an ancient city in Turkey, which according to legend is the birthplace of St. Paul, a sacred site for Christians around the world. Both proposals were unanimously accepted. The members of the Executive Committee accepted Morocco’s proposal to host the congress of the international federation in 2025.
